Cleveland State Lady Cougars Take Narrow Loss To Chattanooga State Basketball

The Cleveland State's Women's basketball team lost a close game against Chattanooga State by a score of 49-51.

Leading the Lady Cougars was Abby Hubert who posted 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Ebony Kelley recorded 10 points and 5 steals while Julia Gaither dished out 6 assists. 

It was a close game throughout. The Lady Cougars were outscored in the first quarter, 16-9 but quickly returned the favor, outscoring their opponent 14-6, 13-7 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. The two squads were also extremely close in their overall stats.

Cleveland State shot 37.3% from the field compared to Chattanooga State's 37%. Cleveland State secured 34 rebounds compared to their opponents 33 rebounds. The one area the Lady Cougars did have a lead in was in 3 point shooting, Cleveland State shot 30% from the arc to Chattanooga State's 23%. Ultimately, the Lady Cougars took the loss in this one by a tight score of 49-51.

Next up, Cleveland State will travel to Walters State in a road matchup on Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m.
